The Buddy dog humane society is the oldest organization in the city of Columbia.

The Buddy dog Humane Society (BHS) was founded in 1956 by Mr. Joe Foy, Mr. H.H. Kiser and Mr. Roy Raney.

When the Humane Society was formed, there were only 10 dogs in the city of Columbia.

The founders of the organization worked very hard. Over a 10-year period, they helped many dogs find loving homes.

Since the beginning, many people have helped. Over the years, many people have helped with donations of money, time and efforts.

Mr. Foy and his family lived on property where the Humane Society was located. In the early days, it was very important to find homes for the dogs that the Humane Society was able to save from being put to death.
